In the December Brush Lettering Countdown I will be practicing brushlettering every day. We’re counting down from December 1st to 31st and each day there’s a free YouTube video where I practice with brush pens.
You can join in whenever you like, even with a blank sheet of paper and a brush pen. I’ll be working with a special set of brush lettering worksheets and using the accompanying practice sheets. Want to join in with the same worksheets?

Frequently Asked Questions
I’m left-handed, can I join?
Absolutely! Anyone can do brushlettering. I regularly show left-handed examples in the YouTube videos.
Do I need to register somewhere?
No, you don’t need to. You can join whenever you feel like it and have time.
Do I have to start on December 1st?
No, you don’t! You can join whenever you like. On December 1st, in the middle of December, during the Christmas holidays or even months later.
Can I do the countdown after December?
Absolutely. The YouTube videos will remain online. Feel free to join in February, June or whenever you feel like it.
Do I have to participate every day?
Absolutely not. You set your own pace. You can participate one day a week, save everything for the holidays or do a little bit each day.
Which brush pens do you recommend?
In the videos, I use different brands of brush pens so you can clearly see what’s possible. My personal favorites, and also the pens I used for the worksheets, are the Pentel Sign Touch brush pen (small brush tip) and the edding 1340 brush pen (medium brush tip). Both are great for beginners and highly recommended to start with. But feel free to use your own favorite brands. I totally understand that not all types of brush pens are available in every country.
Which paper do you recommend?
You can do brushlettering on all kinds of paper. But if you want to practice and keep your brush tips nice, I recommend smooth printer paper. This is paper specifically designed for color printing with a laser printer. For example ProDesign or Clairefontaine DCP.
