Which materials?
Under the Materials tab you’ll find information about the drawing materials I use and recommend. Consider this as advice, you can probably follow the course perfectly well with the materials you already have at home. Whether that’s pencil and fineliner or watercolours and alcohol markers: everything works! The most important thing is that you enjoy drawing. If you prefer to draw digitally and have some experience with Procreate, this course is also highly suitable for you.

Once you’ve enrolled you can start the course right away, perfect if you want to get your Christmas cards made in time! Or you can save the four lessons for the Advent weeks in December and use them as a cosy, calming ritual in the run-up to Christmas.
Drawing with Carla
Carla Kamphuis is a versatile and talented creative designer, lettering artist, architect, author and illustrator. She has taught numerous workshops, lessons and courses, sharing her knowledge and experience. You’ll be learning from the best, as she has been designing and illustrating throughout her entire professional life. She lives in the Netherlands and works every day in her studio in the beautiful countryside.
To the question “What materials do I need?” my short answer is: use whatever you already have at home! You don’t need to use exactly the same materials as I do. It’s lovely if you’d like to join in with the same brush pens, but it’s certainly not required.
The colour chart helps you to create your own colour combinations with your favourite materials such as brush pens, coloured pencils, alcohol markers and/or watercolours. (The numbers on the chart refer to the colour codes of the Tombow ABT brush pens.)

• white mixed media or smooth watercolour paper, A6 size, 200 gsm or thicker
